Conor McGregor will make his highly anticipated comeback and will face off against Michael Chandler. The tickets are quickly filling up for the Ultimate Fighting Championship 303. The event will be organized at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The card will feature the UFC annual International Fight Week.
The news was revealed by the official UFC account on Wednesday. Seven bouts have been announced so far. It had been almost three years since the great grappler McGregor appeared on the podium. The Irish have gone through a tough journey. McGregor took the last ring in July 2022 at UFC 281, during his second straight defeat to Dustin Poirier, he shattered his left leg and lost the bout against Poirier via submission.
The president of UFC Dana White officially announced that McGregor would be coming to the Octagon. On April 13 it was formally stated at the UFC 300 post-fight news conference. The two grapplers Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will appear in the category of lightweight.
McGregor (22-6) is the former Ultimate Fighting Champion and the first UFC fighter to ever hold two divisional titles, simultaneously. The 35-year-old Irish grappler McGregor is a champion in featherweight and a lightweight division. McGregor had a UFC victory in 2016, after that he appeared only four times in a bout. In the first month of 2020, Conor McGregor appeared in UFC and defeated Donald Cerrone in only 40 seconds. Now McGregor and Chandler will square off at 170 pounds in UFC 303 on International Fight Week.
Michael Chandler (23-8) last fought in 2022 and defeated Tony Ferguson with the most remarkable knockouts in UFC history. Chandler became the part of Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2020 as a free agent. He is a three-time Bellator champion in lightweight. Chandler fought against the top fighters in UFC including Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje.
The Co-main event features booked seven other fights against the top contenders. Jamahil Hill will face off against Khalil Rountree Jr. The other official card shows the fighter Mayra Bueno Silva will face off against Macy Chiasson in a Bantamweight bout. Andre Fili featherweight will clash with Cub Swanson. Canadian brawler Marc Andre Barriault will show down against Joe Pyfer for a middleweight bout. The submission champion Gillian Robertson faces the strawweight veteran Michelle Waterson Gomez. On the road of UFC Rei Tsuruya will square off Carlos Hermandez in a flyweight fight.
Seven total fights are booked for the Ultimate Fighting Championship 303, expectedly, more bouts will be announced in the coming weeks. The cards will sell off on Apr 26, 2024.
