TJ Dillashaw announced his retirement in a recent podcast, “The Casuals,” while talking about his left shoulder injury and his plans to make a comeback in the future.

TJ Dillashaw is a former American Mixed Martial Artist. He competed in the Bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

He won the UFC Bantamweight title two times, in 2014 and 2017. In 2014, he won the title by defeating Renan Barao, who had an unbeaten 32-match streak. In 2017, he defeated Cody Garbrandt and got the title again.

TJ Dillashaw explained the reason for not making a comeback and making the decision to retire. When he was asked about making a comeback in MMA, he said that due to his left shoulder injury, he can’t fight anymore, and his career in MMA is over. He said that he couldn't move his left shoulder due to an injury while demonstrating it in the podcast.

Unfortunately, I can’t even do this. It does not hurt. It just did not work.

When he was asked about how he got injured:

“I have had bad shoulders my whole career. Both my shoulders were torn. I got surgery on both my shoulders. When I made a comeback and fought Corey Sandhagen. My shoulders felt great for that, but something happened in that fight which I don’t know.”

Dillashaw is 38 years old MMA fighter. While talking about his age, he said he could have made a comeback at this age, but his left shoulder’s immobility has made his comeback impossible.

Dillashaw played against Corey Sandhagen in 2021 and defeated him through a split decision. While doing preparation for his next match against Aljamain Sterling, he got his shoulder injured. But he continued training, which worsened his left shoulder injury. He lost the match to Sterling due to that injury.

This was the last match of his career, which he lost. He wanted to make a comeback to end his career on a high note. But he can't even move his left shoulder, so he has to say goodbye to his UFC career.

Dillashaw had an impressive career in the bantamweight division of the UFC. In 2011, he played his first match in season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF 14). He impressed everyone in his first tournament with his skills and reached the finals. However, he lost to John Dodson in the finals.

After his defeat, he won the next four matches and got the title “Fight of the Night.”

His notable and most famous accomplishment was winning his 2014 bantamweight UFC title by defeating Renan Barao. Although he has had a short career in UFC, he has won many significant titles and earned a name in the bantamweight division.
