A sparring session video has been made viral in the last 24 hours showing heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou training with the No.1 contender, Cyril Gane.
Although it’s been a really long time since the two fighters actually trained together, the videos have come out at just the right time to fan the fire between the UFC’s top 2 heavyweight athletes for their bout that is scheduled for the first pay-per-view of 2022, at UFC 270.
Ngannou, who had briefly trained with Gane at the MMA Factory in France, explained that the videos have come out only to make sure Cyril Gane looks good against him.
“When I saw that footage, my first reaction was laughing. Because I know exactly what happened at those training sessions,” Francis Ngannou said. “But this is the thing. When they want to like, do some highlight, they always choose the part of the video that they use. And they have a lot of videos like that because, at the time, they were filming our training session to promote him, his fight, and everything. So, there was a lot of footage from those few training sessions. But a lot of them never came out and would never come out. And I know for a fact that they will never come out. It’s about to make him look better and make me look bad, to prove that he’s the man.”
After Cyril Gane was snubbed backstage by Francis Ngannou, the former sparring partners from France have the fans impatiently anticipating the heavyweight title defense between the two. Though Ngannou holds that he holds no disrespect for Gane and that the snub was directed towards his former and Gane’s current coach, Fernand Lopez, this video from Twitter shows that Gane took it personally:
