2. Glover Teixeira’s Biography

Glover Lucas Teixeira is a Brazilian American fighter. Lucas Teixeira is a black belt under Luigi Mondelli, he is a retired fighter of MMA. Teixeira is a top contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He appeared in the category of light heavyweight. Glover became the second oldest Ultimate Fighting Champion.


Teixeira was the representative of the (BNW) Brazilian National Wrestling Team, he has appeared in the top UFC fighting tournaments, including the UFC 153, UFC on Fox 6, UFC 160, UFC Fight Night 28, UFC 170, and UFC Fight Night 28.


Glover Teixeira has earned multiple accomplishments in the leading tournaments, including Brazilian ADCC trials, the UFC light heavyweight Championship Submission of the Night, and ADCC Brasil trials. He achieved the award of Knockout of the Night bonus. 

2.1. Glover Teixeira’s Early Life

Glover Teixeira was born on October 29, 1979, He belonged to a small rural region of Sobrália in Brazil. He had spent his early childhood that was engulfed in difficulties, in his municipality there was a lack of a common resource, electricity. One gasoline pump is available in the Sobrália community. When Glover Teixeira turned 20, he changed his place and went to Danbury in 1999. He worked in landscaping to sustain his household. 

2.2. Glover Teixeira’s Mixed Martial Arts Interest

Glover Teixeira was fond of watching boxing and mixed martial arts fighters. He was interested in Mike Tyson's fights and in the UFC Hall of Fames Chuck Liddell and Royce Gracie. Glover Teixeira soon decided to pursue a mixed martial arts career. 

2.3. Glover Teixeira’s BJJ Training

Glover was not aware of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu martial arts, so he commenced his boxing training in Hat City Boxing, After working 12 hours on landscaping, he continued to train himself in boxing. He went through a lot to accomplish his dreams. He remained frustrated with the hectic routine surrounded by a lot of workload, family support, and to accomplish his dreams.


He met Chuck Liddell, who introduced the ground martial art of jiu-jitsu, Teixeira became interested in BJJ. Soon, Glover Teixeira joined the martial arts academy to train in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. While training John Hackleman was inspired by the techniques of a young BJJ athlete and invited Lucas Teixeira to join his jiu-jitsu training center in California. 

2.4. Glover Teixeira’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Journey

Glover Teixeira began his journey of jiu-jitsu with the great instructor Chuck Liddell, he was great in the throws and takedowns. Teixeira joined Pat, and he was not much aware of the Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He had a great experience with Chuck and learned all of the jiu-jitsu techniques from him.


Sharing his experience with jiu-jitsu Teixeira said that Chuck Liddell was a champion and trained him to become a champion. He said that Chunk had a great impact on him, he made him capable of accomplishing his dreams. 

"He became the champion while I was training with him and I learned everything from him about being a champion and what it took to become a champion’’

2.5. Glover Teixeira’s Black Belt Promotion

Glover Teixeira was among the most dominating and commanding jiu-jitsu athletes. He was an invincible contender, who always intended to evolve his grappling techniques. He was the representative of American Top Team Connecticut. Teixeira was promoted to black belt by the renowned instructor Luigi Mondelli. 

2.6. Glover Teixeira’s UFC Career

Glover Lucas Teixeira accomplished his desire to appear on the podium of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He signed a contract with the UFC and made his debut on May 26, 2012.


Glover Teixeira began his UFC career with a dynamic performance, he squared off the top contender Kyle Kingsbury and marked a victory by submitting him in less than two minutes. Teixeria faces the UFC light heavyweight Champion Quinton Jackson, James Te Huna, Bader, and Phil Davis. Teixeira became the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.


Teixeira was part of the leading fights of The Ultimate Fighting Championship, which included: UFC Fight Night 177, UFC Fight of the Night, the Ultimate Fighting Championship 134, UFC Fight Night 109, and UFC 208.

2.7. Glover Teixeira’s Dual Nationality

Glover Teixeira is a Brazilian, he was a resident of a rural area in Brazil, that lacked the common resources of electricity and gas stations. He had faced a lot of hardship in life but stayed consistent with his passion for becoming a dominant fighter. He got the American nationality in November 2020. On which he proudly says:

2.8. Glover Teixeira’s Personal Life

Glover Teixeria became a landscaper, to support his family and to improve his financial situation. He went to Connecticut in 1999 and he had faced a lot of trouble making ends meet. Teixeria has to spend 10 to 12 hours in landscaping. It became a place of relief as he met Ingrid, and soon they decided to get married.

2.9. Glover Teixeira’s Retirement

Glover Teixeira achieved various titles of light heavyweight in October 2021 when he squared off against Jan Blachowicz. The UFC contender started his career in 2002. After the UFC 283 fight, he announced his retirement in the octagon after the unanimous decision of losing to Jamahal Hill.


On January 22, 2023, Glover Teixeira, the Brazilian veteran, retired after 21 years of professional fighting. He set the landmark with a record of 33-9, he left the podium while saying:

“In reality though, I think I’m too tough for my own good,”
