Marcelo Gomide – BJJ Black Belt Star

Marcelo Gomide is a passionate athlete, the notion of sports was induced in the daily routine of Gomide when he was just a child. He adopted combat sports of muay thai but he left it as his devotion faded away. Soon his intensity brings him close to mixed martial arts. He commenced his career in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 18 and competed in national and international events.

Marcelo Gomide is a BJJ black belt under his coach Erik Wanderley, who helped him follow his journey from white belt to black belt. Gomide is one of the leading representatives of Gracie Barra . He marked his identity in one of the top tournaments IBJJF European No-Gi Open of 2019.

Marcelo Gomide was born in the year 1992 on August 21. The place where he was born is Belo Horizonte which is situated in Brazil. At the age of 7, he started the martial art of Judo and started to practice five-a-side football.

Gomide has become a successful practitioner in competitive judo but Gomide is among those practitioners whose interest when on diverting till they reach the correct place. Soon he lost his interest in martial arts and left the Judo. 

Thinking and paying attention to mixed martial arts, Marcelo Gomide followed his aspirations and decided to practice jiu-jitsu which brought about many victories. He was considering acquiring skills related to ground fighting.

Gomide initiated the practice under the guidance and supervision of Erik Wanderley, who learned under the extensive training of Sergio Benini and Cláudio Mattos. Wanderley stayed with Gomide during his journey from white to black. 

Marcelo Gomide has developed extraordinary skills within a few months of training and started to present at Gracie Barra Mangabeiras Academy and become one of the top presenters. He was always ready to compete and won several bouts. When he achieved the purple belt His interest went on to flourish. He began to spare his time for jiu-jitsu. This led to a turning point in his career

On the grounds of his tremendous performances on the mat, his coach Wanderley promoted him to brown belt. 

Marcelo Gomide is one of the most emphatic and insistent jiu-jitsu athletes. After representing and competing in the brown belt division for almost two years. Gracie Barra Mangabeiras Academy organized a ceremony in June 2019 where Marcelo Gomide was promoted to black belt.

In 2019 the event of IBJJF took place in which an extraordinary grappling fight was held between Marcelo Gomide and Breno Novaes. The fighters were determined and showed outstanding moves, they were dragging each other on the floor but at last, Gomide held at the back and won the match by choking Novaes from the back.

In the event of the Pan Pacific Championship thrilling grappling match occurred between two outstanding athletes, Marcelo Gomide vs Augusto Cursino. It was a fierce match as both of the fighters attempted to submit to each other. With the decision of the empire, Augusta Cursino won the match.

In the Pan Pacific Championship 2022, Marcelo Gomide and Anton Minenko competed with each other. Gomide initiated an open guard and the opponent was escaping from the move. At last, Gomide won the match.
