Recently, BJJ legend Marcelo Gracia has signed a contract with ONE Championship. After being out of the game for many years, the BJJ legend has finally decided to return to the game. BJJ fans are excited to see the legend back in the game.
BJJ legend will soon play his first BJJ match after making a return in ONE championship against Masakazu Imanari. The fight will be played at ONE 170. Fans are hoping the legend will also leave his mark at ONE Championship. The legend has won the ADCC world championship four times. He has also stunned the BJJ world by winning the IBJJF championship five times. He is undoubtedly the greatest of all time in the Brazilian Jiu-Jistu game.
The legend was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2023. Recently, he spoke to ONE about how his reactions when he found out about his cancer. He said that he was surprised and did not know what to do or what would happen to him. He said that he found the cancer at an early stage, because of which things were getting towards him.
“I was like, ‘Alright, now this is a whole new thing that I have no idea what’s gonna happen.’ I was just trying to figure it out. Thank God, things started going more in my way to help me, and we found the cancer early.”
The GOAT said that he was worried more about his kids. He wanted to spend more time with them to make them suitable for later life.
He said that doctors did not give him any hope. But he kept a positive mindset through dealing with the cancer. He looked for happy moments. He tried to look for the things that kept him happy. He said that his biggest wish was to spend more time with his kids, which God ultimately fulfilled.
“It wasn’t a great thing fighting for my life. And when I say my life, I’m not just talking about myself. I’m talking about the life of my kids’ father. You know what I mean? I have to be their father, stay here longer, and try to give them the best chance to grow up like good people.”
Finally, the BJJ GOAT has defeated the cancer, and now he is returning to the game to conquer the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu again.
