2. Julia De Jesus Alves’s Biography
Alves's birthplace is one of Brazil’s most prominent locations, Rio de Janeiro. She was born on January 24, 2001. Alves is a black belt under Julio Cesar Pereira. She is a professional grappler who represents the GF Team in the international BJJ competitions.
2.1. Early Life
Julia Alves spent most of her childhood years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She didn't have an athletic background. Her family was also least supportive in this regard.
2.2. Introduction to BJJ
After turning thirteen, Julia Alves became interested in Jiu-Jitsu as she peered through an academy’s glass-pane, while a class was being trained. That marked the historic moment as she made her career decision.
2.3. First Instructor
When Julia became a member of her very first jiu-jitsu academy, Mike Sousa was her first BJJ instructor. She developed a deeper interest in BJJ after the first session and performed exceptionally well over the years.
2.4. Promotion to Blue Belt
Dedicated and passionate, Julia earned her blue belt within a short time period.
2.5. Promotion to Purple Belt
When Julia started her BJJ training, her instructor Sousa became a GF Team member. Julia had immense learning from the Sousa x GFT coalition by becoming a member of the team’s headquarter group in Meyer, RJ. There she got a chance to train with some of the best athletes in the country and enlist her as one of them. She got a purple belt under the supervision of Julio Cesar Pereira - the head coach of GF Team.
2.6. Promoted to Brown Belt
Julio Cesar Pereira as her leading supervisor, promoted her to brown belt. Alves was always judged by her sports skills. She fought historic fights as a brown belt.
2.7. Promotion to Black Belt
Pereira also holds the credit of promoting Julia to the black belt level after she won the 2022 IBJJF World Championship.
2.8. Alves’ Dedicated Accomplishments
As a well-known BJJ hero, she showed her spark in martial arts. She kept on submitting top-ranked black belt competitors in the AJP fighting arena in the mixed division. The ADCC Brazilian Trials earned her high praise for demonstrating her grappling prowess. Her professional record is decorated with worth-knowing performances.

3.2. Julia Alves vs Larissa Santos
In the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Miami final, Julia Alves faced Larissa Santos in the lightweight black belt division. Julia made fast attacks to dominate and submit her opponent in less than two-minutes. Julia successfully locked the lasso guard and quickly elevated her hips to attempt a triangle. Though Larissa avoided the triangle, she left her arm exposed. This provided Julia the perfect opportunity to secure an armbar submission and win the match.
