2. Ronaldo Pereira’s Biography
2.1. How he started
Ronaldo Junior used to play soccer for fun when he was younger but it wasn’t until 2007 that he discovered jiu-jitsu. At the time, a nearby gym was offering a free lesson to any student who brought a friend to a trial session, a marketing approach that prompted one of Ronaldo’s friends to persuade him to sign up at the facility.
2.2. First Session
Ronaldo attended his first lesson in sweatpants and an old Gi top provided by the coach and immediately fell in love with martial art/sport.
2.3. First Trainer
“Profeta”, Ronaldo’s first trainer, immediately noticed the talent possessed by Pereira and encouraged his parents to support their son in martial arts as he had a future in being a professional grappler.
2.4. Early Training
Ronaldo began training at Teresopolis’s premier jiu-jitsu club, a historic Academia Pitbull directed by Adilson “Bitta” Lima. It was there that he first began his ascent up the jiu-jitsu ladder of success.
In his time at the Pitbull Academy, Ronaldo Junior earned both his blue and purple belts.
2.5. World Championship Opportunity
In 2017, Pereira was given the opportunity of a lifetime by Andre Galvo, who invited him to train with the World Champion Team.
Being awarded a full scholarship to train with the best at the Atos Jiu-Jitsu Academy’s headquarters was an honor.
As soon as he received his blue belt from “Profeta”. Junior’s success increased significantly in June 2019 after two successful attempts at the IBJJF World Championship. He was then promoted to a black belt by Coach Galvo.
