Izaak Michell is a renowned Australian Grappler and brown belt. Michell was trained under the supervision of numerous top practitioners such as John Danaher, Craig Jones, and Leo Arruda. Michell is presently providing jiu-jitsu coaching classes in Austin, Texas.
2.1. Izaak Michell’s Early Life Phase
Izaak Michell was born on 25 August 1998 in South Australia. He was raised in Adelaide, Australia’s largest city. Michell was completely passionate about physical activities from his childhood but his major interest was in Skateboarding and Surfing. After that, he spent his teenage in practising gymnastics and also secured victory in different gymnastics tournaments. One of his finest victories was winning two silver medals by playing gymnastics on a national level.
2.2. Participation in Australian Football
Izaak Michell’s interest was not just confined to surfing and skateboarding as he also spent some of his years in Australian football which is also referred to as AFL. This game is played on a modified cricket ground of oval shape and includes two teams. This sport shows quite a resemblance with rugby in which the player carries the ball in his hands and scoring of points is linked with the foot usage in the game. Along with all these games, Michell also practiced kickboxing and self-defense techniques in his early life stages.
2.3. Entry into the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu
In 2016, Izzaak Michell decided to return to martial arts so he joined the Arruda Jiu-jitsu Coaching Institute. That was the main institute that taught the Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu basics to Michell. Michell spent around one year in training sessions and then immediately prepared his mind to showcase his exceptional grappling skills in different jiu-jitsu tournaments. From his white to purple belt, Michell spent his major time under the tutelage of Leo Arruda.

Izaak Michell is undoubtedly a remarkable BJJ athlete with a highly incredible grappling record. He is widely recognized as one of the finest no-gi athletes due to his successful record in different top tournaments such as the ADCC 2022 Championship, FloGrappling Who's Next Season 1 Championship, and 2019 GrappleFest 4 Super Fight Championship, etc.
2.5. Training under John Danaher
In 2019, Izaak Michell shifted to New York and learned advanced grappling skills under John Danaher, a renowned instructor from New Zealand. When Michell was getting training from John, multiple senior students of John became a part of a famous workgroup in New York. Craig Jones and Aussie were the prominent personalities in the workgroup. After some time, Michell decided to build his new workgroup team which was referred to as B-Team. Michell as well as some skilled students of John contributed significantly to this brand-new squad.

In November 2022, Izaak Michell received his brown belt under the supervision of Craig Jones. After securing various winning titles, Izazak’s black belt was the major milestone in his entire BJJ profession.
