So his coach named him Preguica. Later he started training properly and losing weight but the name stuck with him.
2.4. Relocated to Various Countries to Train with Legends
Felipe became a prominent fighter of Gracie Barra due to his long list of achievements. “I feel like Felipe assembled the avengers to try to take me down and I am a Thanos but it ends like the first movie”.
Various legends express their thoughts on this union. As John Danaher, the coach of Gordon Ryan expressed himself
“I know Andre and Felipe did not like each other at all, so to see them training together is interesting. I guess their mutual dislike of Gordon must be even stronger than their dislike of each other”.
Andre Galvao welcomed Felipe Pena to his gym and his words showed the devotion Felipe had for the BJJ. According to Andre Galvao,
“He is incredible. He (Felipe Pena) defeated me in 2014, and we became super, like big rivals and enemies after that match".
Felipe Pena started his BJJ career with Gracie Barra. He always represented Gracie Barra in the international grappling circuit. He expressed his love for Gracie Barra in these words
“It would be nice to do the camp with Gracie Barra, my team; but they currently don’t have a gym focused on high-level competition, with many black belts training together. Lately, Gracie Barra has been developing lots of young athletes – purple and brown belts – and the black belts are split apart. I still represent Gracie Barra, the team is in my heart, but I will do this camp away for a few months.”
